And Then They Turned My Brain On…

Doctors in Toronto made a surprising discovery while doing a “brain hack” on an obese patient.

They were experimenting with placing electrodes in the hypothalamus to surpress appetite (the patient was so morbidly obese he was willing to try brain surgery to help himself).

However when they switched the current on, he started to remember, in vivid detail, memories of a days walk in a park 30 years ago. Repeated experiments showed that the current enhanced memory as well as capacity to learn… as if the extra electrical energy was “turning up the volume” of the brain.

There is a serious potential awesomeness here. Will the future have our iPod’s wired right into our brains, with each year of education downloaded in a day?
