Turmeric

Some notes on Science Confirms Turmeric As Effective As 14 Drugs and why it is BS:

  • The studies listed are almost all animal in vitro studies meaning in a lab in a petri dish. The results have not been reproduced in humans in vivo.
  • Turmeric in high doses can have negative side effects like nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, GERD, gallbladder problems, and infertility.
  • Curcumin is a phytoestrogen and might make hormone-sensitive conditions worse.
  • Curcurmin, the active ingredient in Turmeric, is absorbed poorly and it is difficult to reach blood levels sufficient to realise its bioactive properties.

So essentially to reach curcumin blood levels seen in lab tests, one has to consume a lot of turmeric and risk severe side effects.

A strong argument can be made for using curcumin as a drug alternative or adjuvant in cancer treatment.” No it really can’t.
